Request
[edit]A kind request - please stay away from my Flickr and refrain from importing files the moment I release them. I see you uploaded files while I was already prepping them to upload. Thank you. I hope for your cooperation. Meanwhile, reconsider your deletion request, while you upload protest banners. Labrang (talk) 06:51, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- If you really don't want others to import from Your Flickr stream, why don't you choose a license that is forbidden on Commons, then you upload the work as your own work? --A1Cafel (talk) 09:31, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- And while I am at it - why do you upload a rather pointless photo like this - File:Preparations for government orchestrated event (53684050396).jpg? Or do you just use some automated algorythm to
transfersnatch all license applicable photos into commons, regardless their actual value? Is that how it works? Labrang (talk) 07:57, 12 September 2024 (UTC)- That's the filename automatically generated by F2C. --A1Cafel (talk) 09:17, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- That's exactly the problem. Mass-import just because you can. Mind you, what's the difference according to you between this photo and this photo Labrang (talk) 09:32, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have blurred the copyrighted element.--A1Cafel (talk) 09:41, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- You did not when you uploaded it initially. Do I understand you correctly you now confess to violation of the rules that you apply to others?
- Mind you - this derivative act takes away the whole purpose [message] of the banner - so please consider to have the photo deleted altogether, if that particular element makes it a copyright violation. Thank you. Labrang (talk) 09:55, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- And please, indicate what is the element in the other image that you nominated that is the problematic part? Labrang (talk) 09:56, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- The boots, and the icon of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. --A1Cafel (talk) 10:00, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- How are the boots and the face (a drawing, not a photo) protected work? And again, please delete the other photo with the crocodile and ivanishvili. This takes away the entire purpose of the banner. This is more vandalizing than helping anything. Labrang (talk) 10:03, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- And please, confess you applied rules to me (3:46) that you deliberately did not apply to yourself (3:42). Labrang (talk) 10:04, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- I apologize for any inconvenience. --A1Cafel (talk) 10:05, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- At least that is clear. And the boots and the face (a drawing, not a photo) are not protected work. They are just a private drawing similarly to wall graffiti. Wall graffiti in Georgia - we have plenty of. Labrang (talk) 10:16, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

[edit]""If you really don't want others to import from Your Flickr stream, why don't you choose a license that is forbidden on Commons, then you upload the work as your own work?" - that was not my message. I was preparing SOME photos to be transferred and indeed had uploaded some extra photos to my Flickr and adjusted the license appropriately - so in that case there was nothing wrong with that as such, except for the fact that I took a break from the screen and overnight you transferred the photos, while I was prepping them already in Commons with different file names - only a few hours after I had them uploaded to Flickr / changed license. This feels like prying. Also, as result, there are now some duplicates. Do you sniff Flickr and snatch any photo that you see the minute it is released under a lower license? The fact that a photo is adjusted to a lower license doesn't OBLIGE you to upload them the minute they are released. Right? Labrang (talk) 10:13, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- I uploaded those photos 12 hours after your license change, not "minute" right? Also such photos are easily search on Flickr, and it is unfair to blame me "prying" Flickr stream. --A1Cafel (talk) 10:21, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- Whatever the case, it simply feels that way. Regardless how easy it is to find such photos in Flickr. I have noticed various Commons people pry on Flickr and upload whatever they can without checking the actual (additional) value for Commons. Not saying that is the case here - although your eagerness to upload whatever is free license, while at the same time also looking for whatever you can nominate for deletion seems to make you sloppy for what you upload yourself. Anyways, have a nice day. Labrang (talk) 11:02, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Gaussian blurs
[edit]https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:CICLOP_Building_(Bucharest)_interior_with_artwork_blurred.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=926530944 : there is nothing wrong with adding the maintenance category "Category:Censored by lack of FOP" (though I find its name contentious: do we also consider all copyright protection "censorship"?), but please do not remove Category:Gaussian blurs to avoid copyright infringement when you do so. - Jmabel ! talk 15:03, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

F2C ban
[edit]Per Special:Diff/937465669, you are now indefinitely blocked from using Commons:Flickr2Commons due to your lack of care to ensure that the transfers are not duplicates, copyright violations, or front-running creators who prefer to upload their own images. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 21:18, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- @King of Hearts: If you decided to block me based on "front-running creators", then this is very pity, as I can never know which Flickr user wish to import their images by themselves, and they have quite different name on Commons and Flickr. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:30, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- The point is not about the fact of whether you are importing images created by people who are also active on Commons, but the spirit of whether you are doing something that disregards others' preferences just because it is legal. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 06:02, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- @King of Hearts: I admit that I under-estimate somepne's preferences at first, but I agreed and made a promise to stop importing from Jelger Groeneveld's (Labrang) Flickr stream, after Krd asked me to respect photographer's request. --A1Cafel (talk) 06:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- It isn't just about any single issue. The consensus is that your Flickr imports in general have been problematic for many different reasons. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 07:36, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- @King of Hearts: There is still someone opposes it, so it is hardly to say it reached a consensus. --A1Cafel (talk) 09:11, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
- Many of the oppose !voters were opposing a total site ban, but many of them still noted issues with your use of F2C. So the end result is that basically everyone who expressed an opinion on that topic was in favor of revoking your access (at a minimum). -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 06:27, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
